International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples

On this day, occurring within the third year of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages, we celebrate the rich cultures, languages, and histories of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples and communities. This internationally recognized decade focuses on preserving, revitalizing, and promoting Indigenous languages. In DSB1, students play an active role in language preservation through involvement in Indigenous language courses across eight DSB1 schools.

For 2024, the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples theme focuses on protecting the rights of Indigenous Peoples, including the groups and communities who reside in remote forests or choose to live detached from the world, relying on their natural habitat.
