This day recognizes the history of enslaved Black and Indigenous Peoples across the land that is now Canada and recognizes both the strength and perseverance of Black and Indigenous Peoples and communities while acknowledging the intergenerational harms and lasting effects.
This day highlights the importance of continuing to collectively reflect, educate, and engage in efforts toward equity and racial justice for all.
